This is a modified color wheel that I learned from one of my professors in design school. It’s main purpose to help one choose more interesting/less expected tertiary colors than a plain ol’ split compliment. I have some trouble with color, so I use this color wheel almost everyday. Below is a diagram showing how to use it:

I start with a blue and it’s compliment, orange. The expected split compliment that would go along with this combo is a yellow-green, but here I move to the color “opposite” of yellow-green and end up with red-violet. I find this color combo unusual and pleasing. TAKE THAT, ART HISTORY!
